This piece explores how thoughts shape self perception. The surrounding abstract forms represent internal reflections. Smooth shapes reflect positive thoughts, while jagged edges symbolize negative ones. The red color reinforces the confusion between these emotions, blurring the line between self doubt and clarity.
By layering these elements, the design creates a distorted perspective, emphasizing how the mind can alter the way one sees themselves. The balance of structure and abstraction invites the viewer to reflect on their own inner thoughts and how they influence perception.
This piece was an exploration of perception and self image, capturing how thoughts both positive and negative shape the way we see ourselves. One of the challenges in creating Inward Gaze was translating the original hand-drawn concept into a refined digital composition while maintaining its raw energy. Finding the right balance between structured shapes and fluid organic forms was key to expressing the contrast between clarity and distortion.
Another challenge was layering the elements to create depth, particularly in integrating the realistic photo within the abstract lines. This process helped me develop a stronger understanding of composition, and digital techniques. Inspired by surrealist art, Inward Gaze represents the complexity of introspection, where perception is constantly shifting between reality and emotion.
